When Apple announced Apple Pay, they revealed that the service would not be launched with the new iPhones. Instead it is expected to launch the month after, and if the reports about iOS 8.1 are to be believed, it seems that Apple Pay could arrive and be enabled with the next iOS 8 update.
Well it looks like the speculation could be true, thanks to a report from Bank Innovation who claims that their sources have confirmed to them that Apple Pay will be launched alongside iOS 8.1 later this month. It has also been suggested that iOS 8.1 and Apple Pay could be launched in the third Monday of October so we guess we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
In fact some have even suggested that the third week of October could be when Apple plans on announcing the new iPads, or even a few days before. It would make sense because the new iPads are said to come with Touch ID and would also support the use of Apple Pay, so for Apple to announce the new tablets and launch Apple Pay shortly would make sense.
However Apple has yet to send out invites to a possible iPad event, so do approach that speculation with some skepticism for now. In any case we will be on the lookout for more information regarding Apple Pay and iOS 8.1 and possible new iPads, so do check back with us at a later date for more info!
