According to a post on the Vine blog, the company has determined that a small percentage of its users are posting videos that “are not a good fit” for its community. Twitter had to respond and ban tweets of explicit material on their platform as well. Vine has become the latest internet platform to make this move, as inevitably, pornography has found its way to the platform as it has on all other platforms.
Even with the ban, Vine does not want you to think artistic freedom is being stifled here. Artistic or documentary content that involves nudity is still allowed. Where they will draw the line remains to be seen, though.
“We don’t have a problem with explicit sexual content on the internet,” the company wrote. “We just prefer not to be the source of it.”
