Hack Enables Harman/Kardon Software On All HTC One M8 Handsets

Hack Enables Harman/Kardon Software On All HTC One M8 HandsetsBack in April, we had heard the rumors that Sprint’s version of the HTC One M8 would come with Harman/Kardon technology that essentially helps improve the audio experience on the phone, much like how HTC and Beats had a partnership back in the day. This has since been officially confirmed by Sprint although the bad news is that to get the features and the bundled headphones, you’d have to buy a brand new device.

This means that early adopters are out of luck, sort of. While you won’t be able to get the bundle Harman/Kardon AE-S headphones for free, you can get the next best thing which is the software that supposedly helps enhance the listening experience on your phone. This is thanks to the folks at the XDA Developers forum who have managed to find a way to enable it on your handset.

Even better news is that this does not only apply to Sprint’s version of the HTC One M8 and that if you had bought the phone from another carrier, like AT&T, Verizon, and so on, you will be able to get the features as well. In addition to unlocking the Harman/Kardon software features, the flashing process will also reportedly update the firmware on your phone’s Advanced Digital Signal Processor.

This means that the audio improvements that you can look forward to are more than just tweaks made to the EQ. The process is reportedly pretty straightforward as it just asks the owner to flash the enabler package, although your phone’s flash must be in s-off mode. If you’d like to learn more and flash the enabler package on your HTC One M8, head on over to the XDA Developer forums for the details.
