HTC seems to be planning to launch not just HTC One (M8 Eye) but also a smartphone called HTC One (E8 Eye) in the Indian market. Although the M8 Eye has been made official in China and is set to be launched on October 15, this is the first time we are hearing about the One (E8 Eye).
First spotted by tech blog Gadgetzarena, the HTC One (E8 Eye) has been listed on Indian import tracking website Zauba.com along with One (M8 Eye). As per the import data website, HTC India has imported over 9000 units of One (M8 Eye) and over 1100 units of One (E8 Eye) in the last one week, indicating at an impending release.
Although there is no word on the official release date, we expect to hear from HTC India in the next week or two.
As per the HTC China website, HTC One (M8 Eye) features dual-SIM support, 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and microSD card slot. In addition, the phone packs a 13MP rear camera (with some sort of 3D capture support), 5MP front shooter, 4G TD-LTE support, Android 4.4 with HTC Sense & Eye Experience enhancements, and 2600 mAh battery.
The HTC One (E8 Eye) specifications are unclear at this point but they are likely to be similar to HTC One (M8) with some differences, most likely on the camera front with HTC Eye Experience enhancements.
There is no word on the official pricing on the smartphones but we expect it to be around INR 35-40,000.
