The Chinese government is going to start selling bottled and canned air to tourists (previously: this businessman doing it) starting June 20th in an attempt to address its growing air pollution problem. I'm not sure that's really addressing the underlying problem. Complimentary gas masks -- now that's the ticket.
The bottles of air will to be manufactured as part of a tourism scheme by authorities in the southwestern Guizhou province. The move comes after the country's biggest online travel agency and insurance firms joined forces to offer policies to tourists whose trips are visually impaired by the pollution.
Addressing your pollution problem by bottling fresh air and selling it to tourists? That doesn't really make me want to visit. That would be like me inviting you over to my apartment but selling you a HAZMAT suit at the door. My apartment is really awesome, I promise, just...put this on first. You're gonna have a great time. Thanks to Thaylor H, who is going to start bottling moon air and start selling it to rich people back on earth. "There is no air on the moon." WHAT?!
